The Arizona Center for Disability Law has settled a lawsuit with the Arizona State Hospital over access to its patients and the facility itself. The lawsuit was filed more than a year ago.

Under the terms of the settlement, the state hospital agreed to provide the ACDL with access to its facilities and the residents.

The ACDL had alleged in its lawsuit that hospital administrators repeatedly refused to provide records and unaccompanied access to its facilities and patients.

The ACDL argued that it’s require to monitor facilities that house individuals with mental illness under the Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness Act.

In a statement, the ACDL said the hospital agreed to allow it to conduct up to three hour visits, twice per week.
