Gov. Doug Ducey is defending Arizona Director of Public Safety Frank Milstead who was caught speeding in October and got out of the ticket.

Body camera footage released Wednesday shows Milstead and his fiance being pulled over by a Yavapai County sheriff’s deputy.

“You guys were going over 90 miles an hour weaving through traffic, not using your guys’ turn signals. Got your registration and your insurance as well?” asked the deputy, as shown on the recording.

Milstead was let off with a warning after handing the deputy his DPS ID.

In his position, Milstead oversees a force of nearly 1,200 officers, most of whom are assigned to enforce traffic laws on freeways.

Ducey made a statement Thursday saying “even the good guys make mistakes.”

He said he expects all members of his administration to follow the law but cast it as a minor transgression.
