Starting Jan. 1, 2020, it will cost a little more to visit some of Arizona’s National Park Service sites.

Petrified Forest and Saguaro National Parks are raising prices from $20 to $25 per vehicle. Park-specific annual passes, per-person and per-motorcycle prices will also increase at those parks. At Tumacácori National Historical Park, the $7 admission will rise to $10 per person.

Prices for Annual America the Beautiful National Parks Passes and Lifetime Senior Passes will not change.

Saguaro National Park chief ranger Ray O’Neil said the increased fees will help address issues like dangerous erosion.

“At Saguaro National Park, the entrance fee money all does stay in the park and the biggest area where we put those funds is toward trail maintenance activities," O'Neil said.

The increases are part of changes the agency planned in 2017 to help address a nationwide backlog of National Park maintenance needs that exceeds $11 billion. Nearly $600 million is needed in Arizona alone.
