As six presidential candidates face off in Iowa on Tuesday, six will participate in a Native American Presidential Forum in Las Vegas the same day.

Former Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Elizabeth Warren are on the roster for both events. Other candidates who plan to speak are Navajo Independent Mark Charles, Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, businessman Tom Steyer and entrepreneur Andrew Yang.

Four Directions Inc., a national voting rights organization, has partnered with several groups to organize the second Native American Presidential Forum.

Even though many Native Americans live in hard-to-count remote areas, political scientists say they can be the deciding vote in a close national race.

Tribal members still face challenges to voting. Some have a hard time reaching polling centers while others face problematic ID requirements. Rural Native Americans with only a P.O. Box and not a physical address have been turned away in some states.
