Phoenix To Hold Final Meetings On Trash And Recycling Rates
Download mp3 (960.11 KB)The Phoenix City Council is getting close to making a decision on increasing waste fees, and the community only has a couple meetings left to voice their opinions.
Two public meetings remain in north and south Phoenix to discuss the potential rate changes for waste management at single-family homes.
Phoenix Public Works asked for a rate increase at a City Council meeting in November to improve their equipment and provide more services for the city’s growing population.
Currently, the community is discussing five different options for waste fees which include cutting programs like composting or weekly recycling. If the fees are increased, residents will pay about four to six dollars more than their current waste bill, depending on which option is chosen.
The Phoenix City Council announced that they will have a policy meeting on Feb. 11 to consider the changes.
The remaining meetings are on Jan. 28 at the Helen Drake Senior Center and Jan. 30 at the South Mountain Community Center. Both meetings start at 6:30 p.m.
