Comparisons between President Richard Nixon and President Donald Trump have been common as many consider just how similar this political period is to Nixon’s administration — particularly as it relates to Watergate and impeachment.

The term bipartisan often comes up when determining some differences between then and now, including the fact the U.S. senator from Arizona, Barry Goldwater, was the one to tell Nixon he needed to resign.

In a piece for Politico, writer and historian Garrett Graff considers whether there would be a GOP senator today who would be willing to do the same — and if President Trump would respect him or her enough to listen.
