PHOENIX — Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane has announced plans to run for a third term.

Lane said Thursday that he's running for a third and final term in office to tackle Scottsdale's challenges with "vigor, substance and success."

Campaign representatives said Lane served one term on the city council before becoming mayor in 2008 and later winning re-election in 2012. Lane is a fiscal conservative who promises to keep Scottsdale "Open for business."

Lane helped develop improvements to facilities at Westworld and the TPC Golf Course during his term. He's also involved with developing the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

The elections won't take place until August 2016.
