Gov. Ducey's executive order offers eviction relief for tenants who lose income due to the coronavirus. It forbids law enforcement officers in the state from serving evictions on tenants who demonstrate at least one of the following circumstances:

• The individual is quarantined as a result of COVID-19.
• The individual is ordered to self-quarantine by a doctor based on symptoms similar to COVID-19.
• Someone in the home has been diagnosed with COVID-19, requiring all occupants to quarantine.
• The individual proves that they have an underlying medical condition that leaves them more at-risk to complications from COVID-19.
• The individual suffered a "substantial loss of income" due to COVID-19.

In order to qualify under the substantial loss of income clause, the individual seeking the exemption must provide proof that they were either laid off, furloughed, suffered a pay cut or lost income to care for a "homebound school-age child."

The Arizona Supreme Court developed a form in both English and Spanish for tenants to officially notify landlords of their intent to seek exemption.
