Online notary services in Arizona were supposed to go into effect on July 1, but Gov. Doug Ducey moved that date to Friday.

In an executive order, Ducey will allow, “remote online notarization."

The purpose of a notary is to prevent fraud. For documents like wills and power of attorney to be authenticated, they must be notarized.

There are requirements to use this service correctly. Signers will need audio-video technology in order to communicate with the notary as the tamper-proof stamps and signatures are put on the electronic documents.
