Whether from a political or cultural standpoint, 1964 was an impactful year in the U.S. The Civil Rights Act became a reality, the Beatles played on "The Ed Sullivan Show" and Arizona’s Barry Goldwater ran for president and ran into the Lyndon Johnson landslide.

Next Tuesday night, PBS' "American Experience" presents the new documentary "1964." It will air here in Phoenix on KAET channel 8. Director and producer Stephen Ives discussed it.
