The coronavirus is spreading in Arizona prisons. There are 28 inmates at four different facilities who have tested positive for COVID-19 as of Monday.

The state prison in Florence has been hit the hardest, with 17 confirmed cases.

The Eyman prison has four confirmed cases and the Tucson prison has one.

The privately operated Marana Community Correctional Treatment Facility, which houses 450 minimum-custody inmates, has reported six positive cases.

There are six pending cases across all prisons, but the Arizona Department of Corrections has only tested 0.35% of its total inmate population.

ADC has not disclosed the number of correctional officers who have been tested for COVID-19 or the results, but Carlos Garcia, a spokesman for the Arizona Correctional Peace Officers Association, says he believes more than 20 officers have tested positive.
