About 5,000 first responders will be given antibody testing to determine if they had been exposed to COVID-19. These will be the firefighters and police in Phoenix as well as surrounding cities.

P.J. Dean of the United Phoenix Firefighters says that these tests will not change their safety protocols, it will just give a perspective for how much they’ve been impacted by the virus. 

“And this will shed a lot of light on how we've been impacted, not only individually, by the members themselves finding out if they themselves are positive or negative for antibodies, but collectively as a population," Dean said. 

The Phoenix Suns Charities and Blue Cross Blue Shield provided $80,000 to buy the tests. Testing begins Monday.
