Hermosillo Mayor Urges Compliance With Stay-At-Home Orders Through Song

Like many people trying to make the most of their time at home during the coronavirus pandemic, the mayor of the Sonoran capital city Hermosillo said she's been learned how to play guitar.
"This quarantine has inspired all of us, and I've learned to play the guitar, and with great affection for you all, I've written this song," Mayor Celida Lopez said in a minute-long video posted to social media.
In the video from her kitchen, Lopez strums a single chord as she sings a song reminding Hermosillo residents to stay home.
“Stay at home, stay at home, listen to us and help us now," she sang, going on to warn that hospitals will be overwhelmed and people will be fined or arrested if they don’t comply with restrictions on movement meant to slow the spread of coronavirus.

The video quickly sparked praise for the lighthearted reminder as well as suggestions that she should have written a song called “I will pave the streets.”
Sonora's mandatory stay-at-home order implemented April 12 includes fines of up to about $350 for anyone who leaves home for a non-essential reason or travels with a passenger in their vehicle. The measures are currently set to stay in place until at least May 20.
As of Sunday, there were 81 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Hermosillo and 335 in Sonora.
