After nearly two months of takeout and delivery only, many restaurants in Maricopa County will resume dine-in services next week. However, several important safety measures will still be in place.

Dozens of dining rooms are set to reopen their doors starting May 11, and they won’t be required to undergo a preliminary inspection.

Instead, the Governor’s Office has provided a guidance document with information on social distancing requirements, occupancy limits and guidelines from the CDC that must be followed.

Darcy Kober is the director of environmental services for Maricopa County. She says more than 70 field inspectors will monitor the progress over the coming weeks.

“County Environmental Services staff will continue business as usual conducting routine Compliance Inspections and responding to food code related complaints,” Kober said.

Kober says the Environmental Services Department conducts approximately 57,000 inspections per year, and they have been modified recently to work with state regulations.
