Banner Health's Poison Control Center Posts Advice For Demonstrators Facing Tear Gas

Banner Health’s Poison and Drug Information Center publicly shared advice on how to manage exposure to riot control agents after receiving several calls from people who had either been exposed to tear gas or pepper spray while protesting.

They recommend rinsing the eyes and face with water for up to 10 minutes, removing affected clothing, and showering or washing with soap and water as soon as possible. 

This advice comes as concerns over how chemical irritants may spread the coronavirus by causing coughing and screaming in people who are bunched close together and aggravating underlying respiratory conditions.
