Sawtooth Fire Nearly Contained
More than 300 firefighters have been working to suppress the Sawtooth Fire, which started May 30 with a lightning strike in the Superstition Wilderness area within the Tonto National Forest.
Fire, which had burned more than 24,000 acres as of Sunday, is now nearly 70% contained.
By Sunday, the Forest Service reported that the fire’s perimeter had not grown, and fire activity had been minimal — allowing firefighters to contain a majority of the blaze.
They cited cooler temperatures and weak winds over the weekend, which aided firefighting efforts.
No structures have been threatened and there were no evacuations ordered during this fire.
