This Thursday, active military, veterans and their spouses will be able to take part in a virtual job fair for employment opportunities throughout the Valley.

The online event is is coordinated by the veteran assistance group RecruitMilitary.

It will be the first virtual setting in the city, although several in-person veteran job fairs are held in major sports centers like Sun Devil Stadium each year.

Air Force vet Chris Stevens is the senior vice president and one of the event's coordinators.

He says the opportunity works both ways, as it provides military members with jobs and connects companies with the skillsets they are looking for.

“What's great about military vets and spouses and what they bring to the table is something we like to call soft skills," Stevens said. "Come to work on time, drug free, and when the horn goes off and five o'clock, we don't necessarily have to go home.”

Twenty-eight companies will be recruiting at the event with opportunities in pharmaceuticals, health insurance, business and tech development.

Stevens says anyone with a military background has a chance to attend.

“We are really the bridge for corporate America to understand the value of what a military veteran can bring to an organization," Stevens said.

The event will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. MST and can be accessed at RecruitMilitary.com.
