The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning this weekend for parts of northern Arizona to correspond to increasing wind speeds.

Experts predict speeds to be between 15 to 30 miles per hour, and those figures could extend by up to 50% at certain points on Friday.

Meteorologist Tim Steffen says low humidity values are what cause the winds to create extra hazard.

“What this system is going to do, that is passing our North, is bring an increase in the wind speeds," Steffen said. "That is going to combine with the already existing dry conditions to create the critical fire/weather conditions.”

The red flag warning applies to Prescott, Flagstaff, Sedona and parts of the Navajo Nation.
