The Phoenix police officers’ union has responded to calls to "defund the police" by requesting more money and resources.

Protests movements sparked by the killing of George Floyd are leading to proposals to reallocate funding for police departments and calls to "defund the police."

Britt London is the president of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association. He said he believes those calling for police to be defunded are doing so without thinking about how to replace them.

“We think it's something that wouldn’t benefit the community," London said. "I mean we’re talking about community. We’re talking about everyone.”

London said instead of defunding, he believes police need more funding, more equipment, and more officers in Phoenix.
