Vice President Mike Pence has delayed his scheduled visit to Arizona until Wednesday.

Pence, who is traveling with Dr. Deborah Birx, will meet with Gov. Doug Ducey and state health officials.

“It’s an official visit and it’s focused on health care and public health in the state of Arizona,” said Ducey. “She’s leading the coronavirus task force along with Dr. Fauci and V.P. Pence was going to accompany her.”

Pence canceled a previously scheduled meeting with Ducey in Yuma and a political event in Tucson and will be coming to Phoenix instead.

Arizona has made national news in the past weeks as the number of coronavirus cases surge in the state, prompting Ducey to institute new measures to combat the spread.
