The parents of a recently murdered woman from Arizona who was an airman in the United States Air Force are speaking out about the shooting death of their daughter that occurred in late June.

Megan Aposhian said her daughter Natasha Aposhian was the victim of domestic violence, and she told them the man she had begun dating was controlling and abusive. “My daughter called me and said, ‘Mom, I think he’s going to kill me.’ I begged her to report it, and she intended to do just that.”

Her murder took place in a dormitory on Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota and was committed by a fellow airman who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to an online obituary, Natasha Aposhian was a 2017 graduate of Chandler High School and joined the Air Force in 2019.

Arizona House Democrat Cesar Chavez signed on to a letter asking the Department of Defense and Congress to investigate Aposhian's killing as well as Fort Hood Army Specialist Vanessa Guillen who went missing from the base in Texas in late April.

Guillen’s remains were recently found and her family was notified last Friday.
