The Apache Junction Unified School District will be the first Arizona school district to resume schooling for the fall semester on July 21.

The district will be providing iPads, computers, and internet hotspots to any families lacking the tools to participate in online learning.

Gov. Doug Ducey’s executive order requires that schools delay in-person learning until August 17.

“One of the things that we said before we agreed to that date is that we’re going to make sure we have equity amongst all of our students,” said district Superintendent Krista Anderson, “which means that we need to make sure that they have a device, and we need to make sure that they have internet access.”

Anderson noted that the district has plans for additional challenges presented by the pandemic, but that she is devoted to providing students with the full 180 days of learning promised in the academic year.
