Professional golfer Jon Rahm, an Arizona State University graduate, won the PGA Tour Memorial Tournament on Sunday and became the No. 1 golfer in the world. The Tour’s delay in response to the pandemic played a part in Rahm’s athletic development.

Rahm graduated from ASU in 2016 and began his professional career shortly after. His trainer, Spencer Tatum of Scottsdale’s Ignite THP, says his constant participation in golf events had prevented him from further developing his physical fitness. 

“I think the quarantine and COVID time away from the golf course has really helped John develop his body, when he didn’t really have time to develop it because he was playing so much,” Tatum said.

The PGA Tour’s spring schedule was pushed back in April due to coronavirus concerns. Rahm’s Memorial Tournament victory is his 11th victory as a professional golfer and his fourth on the PGA Circuit.
