Gov. Doug Ducey issued an Executive Order on Wednesday that his office said will make additional state resources available for upcoming elections.

The Executive Order states citizens should have access to sufficient voting sites and the ability to vote safely.

Citing a need from county officials to provide voting locations with adequate physical distancing, the order instructs the Department of Administration to identify state-owned facilities to be utilized as voting locations and to assist counties in providing personal protective equipment.

The order also expands Civic Duty Leave for state employees to include those who work at polling places during the primary and general elections.

The order warns that without action from the state there could be long lines at voting locations and concerns over safety.
