Fire restrictions are being lifted in Arizona’s forests as the state receives rainfall in the high country. 

Restrictions have been lifted for the Apache-Sitgreaves, Coconino and Kaibab national forests.

The Coronado Forest will lift restrictions Friday and the Prescott Forest will do the same on Saturday.

The bans went into effect because of high wildfire risk.

Brady Smith of Coconino National Forest said that campers still need to manage their fires.

“So, we really want people to drown and stir and repeat that process until their campfire is cold to touch before they leave, or go to sleep, or go hiking. Just do not leave your campfire unattended,” he said. 

Parts of the Tonto National Forest will also open Friday, with fire restrictions still in place.
