Arizona COVID-19 Numbers Starting To Trend Downward

Arizona’s average number of daily cases has declined 18% over the last two weeks. In-patient hospitalizations, and ventilators in-use, numbers are also slightly down. Will Humble, the former director of the Arizona Department of Health Services, says that those numbers indicate things are looking a bit better.

“All these things are encouraging and what it tells us is that the face covering requirements that the cities and counties put in place and the fact that people are respecting those ordinances mean that’s reducing the spread,” Humble said.

He also says he thinks schools will be the focus of this week’s governor press conference; and in-person instruction could begin if the county has a percent positive rate of 5% or less. There have been over 3,700 hundred deaths and over 177,000 positive cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
