The Arizona Interscholastic Association Executive Board voted Wednesday for a staggered beginning of fall sports.

"The health and safety of our student participants, coaches, officials and essential personnel, including volunteers, is the primary concern for the return of interscholastic athletics and activities," said AIA Executive Director David Hines. "We are very grateful to those who share our commitment of a return to these highly beneficial educational activities and athletics."

The High School Football Season will be pushed back a month.  Practices now begin Sept. 7 with the first round of games between Sept. 30 and Oct. 3.

Other fall sports including cross country, swim and dive, soccer and volleyball will begin competition throughout September.

All fall sports will still have the opportunity of a championship tournament.
