Firefighters are battling the Goldfield Fire east of Fountain Hills, which has charred over 300 acres as of Monday.

Tiffany Davila of the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management says the fire started off of State Route 87 after something fell off of a cement truck and began sparking, igniting very dry vegetation.

“Normally at this time of the year we’ve got that monsoonal moisture, we have that increase in humidity, you know a little bit cooler temperatures that are helping us decrease that fire activity. But that’s not what we’re having this year,” Davila said.

Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management tweeted out Monday night that the Bush Highway closed and remained closed, overnight, in both directions. The tweet also says the fire is moving away from homes in the area.
