The Salt Fire has forced the evacuation of some residents living near Roosevelt Lake.

As of Saturday the fire has burned 21,000 and is 0% contained.

Fire spokesman John Helmick says the evacuations are precautionary for now.

“This is done out of an abundance of caution because there is active fire in the region, meaning they are actively engaged in working the fire which is down on the south end of the Salt fire," Hemlick said. "They people to leave so the firefighters can work safely and not be affected by people in their way.”

The Red Cross has set up an evacuation center at Lee Kornegay Intermediate School in Miami, Arizona.
