Fall Weather Could Change COVID-19 Spread In Arizona
Public health experts expect the fall flu season could add another challenge to the fight against COVID-19 and are encouraging Arizonans to get a flu vaccine.
But since the virus spreads more easily in enclosed spaces, Dr. Josh LaBaer with ASU’s Biodesign Institute said cooler weather may prove beneficial in our state.
“In Arizona we will have the opportunity to move outdoors a little bit now, we’ve been indoors all summer, so with any luck that will allow us the opportunity to do things in a somewhat more safe environment during the better season here,” LaBaer said Wednesday in a call with reporters.
LaBaer cautioned that COVID-19 is still spreading in Arizona, with about 500 to 800 new cases being identified each day. He said the state still needs to be testing more of the population to identify outbreaks.
