Arizona Theatre Company will bring live theater back to Tucson and Phoenix soon.

Its artistic team is eyeing the new year for a new beginning.

Arizona Theatre Company will limit patrons to approximately 25% of theater capacity for a January rollout in Tucson and a February premiere in Phoenix.

Artistic Director Sean Daniels Friday said on Arizona Theatre Company's “Hang & Focus Live” vidcast, mechanical modifications are being made in facilities in both cities.

“We are upgrading the filtration systems and the air in both theatres — in the Herberger in Phoenix and in the Temple of Music and Art in Tucson. We’re doing everything we can to move forward.”

That includes getting approval from unions representing actors, directors and set designers.

“A lot of people get confused and they don’t always understand how can some theatres come back in November and some can come back tonight. For us, we have to get a lot of signoff for everyone to be able to do it,” said Daniels.

The company will release an exclusive limited-time broadcast of each performance for ticket holders uncomfortable returning to the theatre.

Daniels said in a press release, “As the State Theatre, we’re determined to make sure Arizona continues to be a leader in the national cultural conversation. With Broadway closed until at least next summer, it’s a time for the nation’s focus to be on the great regional theaters that make up the vast majority of theatre created in our country.”
