Former Heath Director Will Humble: Arizona Holding Steady As U.S. COVID-19 Cases Increase
Nationwide, there is an uptick in coronavirus cases, but the former director of the Department of Health Services says Arizona is holding steady.
Will Humble, now executive director of the Arizona Public Health Association, says North and South Dakota, Montana, Utah, Idaho and Wisconsin are seeing increases.
“A common thread for many of those states I just described, is that they just don’t have statewide mask mandates on, there’s limited enforcement of the CDC mitigation measures in many of those states,” Humble said.
Arizona also lacks a statewide mask mandate. But in June, Gov. Doug Ducey allowed county, town and city officials to create their own mask mandates.
While students are being diagnosed with COVID-19 after returning to schools and universities, Humble says mitigation techniques seemed to have controlled the virus’s spread.
