There is a lot of conflicting information in the public sphere about the integrity of the elections process. One nonpartisan group, Election Protection Arizona, is working to answer questions voters may have when they arrive at the polls.

Murphy Bannerman is the deputy director with Election Protection Arizona. She says they are recruiting volunteers to help voters answer questions at the polls about what kind of identification they need, as well as to verify guidance given by poll workers.

“If they are saying ‘I was told I have to vote with a provisional ballot.’ That is something that our organization wants to know and to make sure that they were actually supposed to use that provisional ballot,” she said.

Bannerman says they are training roving poll monitors as well. The volunteers will be at early voting sites and polling places through Election Day.

She says they have recruited several hundred volunteers and are hoping to cover as many polling places as possible throughout Arizona.
