Vandalizing Campaign Signs In Phoenix Could Mean Jail Time

This year’s presidential race could be described as spicy — lots of emotions. And some people might want to express their frustrations by vandalizing one of the many political signs posted on street corners and on private property.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson with the Phoenix Police Department says doing so is a Class 2 misdemeanor.

“Well, a Class A, Class 2 misdemeanor is — if I remember from my academy days — is punishable by up to four months in jail; $750 fine; and two years of probation," said Thompson.
And don’t think about defacing a sign after the election, either. Thompson says the law is in effect until seven days after the election.
