For those preparing to fly this holiday season, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport officials have a few reminders.

Sky Harbor and its planes have a mask mandate, and the Transportation Security Administration is allowing certain items through security.

"TSA has a list of restricted items, and some of those items the restrictions have been waived for like hand sanitizer. But find that out before you get to the airport, before you plan your trip so you know what to expect," said airport spokesperson Greg Roybal.

Roybal also recommends passengers check their flight status before coming to the airport in order to mitigate possible inconveniences due to flight delays or cancelations.

The Arizona Department of Health Services director encourages people not to have family get-togethers outside the immediate household to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

The country has seen new spikes in cases — with Arizona seeing its largest increases in months — over the weekend.
