Rep. David Schweikert and Hiral Tipirneni are running to represent Arizona's 6th Congressional District in 2020.

The race for Arizona’s 6th Congressional District flipped with a new batch of ballots processed Wednesday night. The contest is still too close to call.

In the latest update from Maricopa County, Republican incumbent David Schweikert has overtaken Democratic challenger Hiral Tipirneni.

Tipirneni had been leading since Tuesday night, but the most recent ballots processed have favored Republican candidates.

About 50,000 Maricopa County ballots were processed and added to vote tallies Wednesday night with more expected in the coming days.

Despite an investigation for campaign finance violations that resulted in a reprimand, Schweikert is leading by nearly 3,000 votes as he seeks his sixth term in Congress.
