Veteran Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is back on the practice field after recovering from COVID-19 and says he feels good enough to play against the New York Giants on Sunday.

The 37-year-old wide receiver says he feels healthy enough to play in Sunday’s game at the Meadowlands but said his two weeks in quarantine with the virus were physically and mentally challenging. While at home recovering, Fitzgerald says he lost 9 pounds, updated his will and spent a lot of time reading.

“The scariest part I think for anybody that’s had it is nobody really can give you any answers,” Fitzgerald said during a press conference. “I mean, you learn new information every single day. You feel symptoms and you ask, and nobody really can tell you it’s going to be better or this is how long it usually lasts. There are no real answers."

Fitzgerald watched the last two Cardinals games — both losses — from isolation at home while he battled the virus.

“It stinks to be, you know, not out there being able to help your team," Fitzgerald said. "It’s a pretty helpless feeling to sit there on your couch and not be able to do anything, you know, can’t talk to anybody, not helping anything."

Cardinals General Manager Steve Keim said Fitzgerald would be active in the game against the Giants, but it’s not yet clear how much play Fitzgerald might see. The Cardinals have lost four of their last five games and rank third place in their division.
