Arizona Democratic Chair Felecia Rotellini On What It Means To Be One Of The State's 11 Electoral Votes
The Electoral College meets Monday to certify President Elect Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election.
One of Arizona’s 11 electors is state Democratic Party chair Felecia Rotellini. In her role as the party chair, state law gave her the authority to choose who would represent the state if Democrat Joe Biden won the popular vote in Arizona.
“It is one of the most exciting and exhilarating things I’ve done in my life, to be part of this historical process, to be one of eleven in the state of Arizona, and to be able to cast our votes for our chosen party leader,” Rotellini said. "We've got tribal leaders, labor leaders, political leaders, activists representing all parts of the state."
Among the state’s 11 electors are leaders of three tribal communities in the state — Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez, Gila River Indian Community Gov. Stephen Roe Lewis and Tohono-O’odham Nation Chairman Ned Norris Jr.
