Congressman Paul Gosar has once again called on President Trump to pardon former Republican U.S. Rep. Rick Renzi, who spent three years in prison. Renzi was convicted in 2013 on 17 counts that stemmed from two criminal schemes. He was released in 2017.

He represented a congressional district that spanned northern and eastern Arizona from 2003 to 2009, but a 2008 federal probe led to his indictment.

Gosar initially joined Congress after winning the same House seat in 2010.

He tweeted his support for Renzi on Thursday, as well as calling for the pardoning of “anyone indicted” involved in the We Build the Wall project, an effort to raise money for private border wall construction.

Gosar called the Department of Justice “corrupt and inept” in his tweet defending Renzi.
