The Arizona Department of Transportation hopes that a campaign to reduce distracted driving will pay off.

The department warned about the dangers of distracted driving with a series of videos that launched in October.

The videos feature snake wranglers and rodeo bullfighters who fearlessly go about their duties.

What scares them? Distracted drivers.

The department wants to get the message out before a new law goes into effect that will fine drivers for texting and driving.

"Our goal with the campaign was to raise awareness about distracted driving. We all drive the roads, we all see it happening whenever we’re out there. Distracted drivers make the roads dangerous for everyone, and distracted driving crashes are entirely preventable,” said ADOT spokesman Doug Pacey.

More than 10,000 crashes involved distracted drivers in Arizona last year.
