As crowds of rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, hundreds of supporters of President Trump gathered at the Arizona state Capitol on Wednesday.

Many of the protestors at the state Capitol carried rifles but hardly any wore masks.

Speakers addressed crowds falsely claiming the election had been stolen from Trump and attempted to spread disinformation about the integrity of the voting process in Arizona.

Julie Walsh traveled to Phoenix from Flagstaff to attend the rally. “I’m here to fight for our freedom and if we’re not heard, it’s going to go beyond today," Walsh said. "I believe in peace but the American people need fair, free elections.”

Election results in Maricopa County and across the country have been certified, and court challenges to the elections process have been rejected at every level.

Arizona GOP Chair Kelli Ward spread disinformation about the election process to the crowd. "Now a lot of you in the crowd are astute. Not all. But a lot," Ward said. "And so you understand that not being able to look at those ballots is a very, very big problem.”

Ward was heckled by some for not doing enough to support Trump. There was no violence or destruction of property reported but by Wednesday evening, barricades were being erected outside the Capitol building.
