A small fishing boat with three men aboard went missing from a small town in Baja California in late December. The boat was recovered in neighboring Sonora over the weekend, but only one of the fishermen survived.

The three fishermen ran out of fuel while fishing near the small town of San Felipe on December 27. They were able to put out a call for help, but could not provide an exact location.

For the next 19 days, the men were adrift at sea, until their boat finally wrecked on a small island near Sonora’s Kino Bay, where it was found by local fishermen Friday.

One of the fishermen survived and was transported to a nearby hospital to receive medical care. Another man was found dead inside the boat. Sonoran officials say they are still searching for the body of the third man, who reportedly threw himself overboard in desperation.
