UPDATE: As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, Arizona Department of Health Services reported all additional February appointments for Phoenix Municipal Stadium were filled. The department has not announced when new appointments will be available.

The Arizona Department of Health Services is opening up registration for an additional 21,000 appointment slots for COVID-19 vaccines Wednesday at 9 a.m.

The appointments will be available at Phoenix Municipal Stadium from Feb. 5 through 18. Appointments will be open to adults 65 and older, health care workers, educators, and others in 1A and 1B priority groups. The registration website is podvaccine.azdhs.gov.

Arizona's Department of Health Services is running two vaccination sites at State Farm Stadium and Phoenix Municipal Stadium. In mid-January when the state last opened appointment registration for the stadium sites, more than 100,000 Arizonans signed up, filling the entire month of February within hours. But the state said it wasn't able to offer as many appointments at Phoenix Municipal Stadium as it had hoped to because of limited vaccine supply

Last week, Gov. Doug Ducey issued an executive order allowing the state to redirect unused vaccine doses from county health departments if the shots could be administered faster elsewhere. In a Tuesday press release, the Governor's Office said the state had located enough unused vaccine around the state to offer additional appointments at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.

Many users have reported difficulty registering for appointments on the state's appointment website. The Governor's Office said it is hopeful this round of registrations will run more smoothly.

"New improvements to the state’s vaccine registration website recently went live at podvaccine.azdhs.gov. Among them: a feature that shows the next available appointment rather than requiring a user to search by day for appointments," the press release said.
