March 1 at 9 a.m., the Arizona Department of Health Services will open up registration for vaccine appointments at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

The state has not announced how many appointments it will make available. But on previous occasions when the state has opened appointment registration for its other vaccination sites, thousands of spots have filled within hours or even minutes. This next round of sign ups is likely to bring high demand again.

Arizonans 65 and older, educators and other prioritized populations will be eligible. The registration website is podvaccine.azdhs.gov. Appointments can also be made by calling 1-844-542-8201.

Dignity Health has been operating the vaccination site at Chandler-Gilbert Community College for about two months. The site has primarily catered to health care workers and older adults. Gov. Doug Ducey's office announced Monday that the Arizona Department of Health Services will take over operation of the site March 3. It will be the fourth mass vaccination site run by Arizona's health department.

In a press release, the Governor's Office said the Chandler-Gilbert Community College site will eventually have the capacity to operate 24 hours a day, delivering up to 12,000 vaccines daily. But the site will initially only run 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. because of limited vaccine supply, according to the press release.
