Arizona Voices Of COVID-19: Matt Hoie On Waiting For A Vaccine
Download mp3 (6.07 MB)The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 2,276 new cases of COVID-19 March 5 with 84 COVID-related deaths reported. Over 16,000 COVID-related deaths have been recorded since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report 23% of adults 18 and older in Arizona have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine as of March 4, slightly ahead of the U.S. average of 21%.
Vaccination rates are highest among older Arizonans. In Maricopa County, two out of three adults 75 or older have had a shot.
Slowly, more and more people are getting the COVID-19 vaccine. After a year of waiting, many are anxious to get the shot. But there are still challenges, from confusing websites to no availability — and sometimes your group just isn’t on the list.
The Show will be hearing from a few voices in our community about the challenges of getting vaccinated.
This week, advocates called for the state to prioritize people with developmental disabilities like Down syndrome and autism.
