Yuma Civic Center Opens As State-Run Vaccination Site Monday
Starting Monday, Arizona begins operations at its fourth state run COVID-19 vaccination site at the Yuma Civic Center. The location is in an effort to increase rural vaccinations.
Dr. Cara Christ is the Director of the Arizona Department of Health Services.
“It’s transitioning to a state-supported site. It will operate seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.," Christ said.
The new site is a joint effort with Yuma County, the City of Yuma, Yuma Regional Medical Center, ASU and other state partners.
Christ says they will initially offer up to 8,000 appointments, but the capacity is more than three times that number. While all available appointments have already been filled, the next set will open on Friday, April 2.
Appointments will be available online at podvaccine.azdhs.gov or by calling 844-542-8201.
