The Arizona Board of Regents has approved a two-year contract extension for the University of Arizona’s women’s basketball head coach Aida Barnes. The extension comes after Barnes and her team made it to the NCAA women’s basketball tournament finals.

The program and the team have seen an amazing turnaround over the last five years on and off the court, said UA Director of Athletics Dave Heeke.

"We are proud of what she has done with the program, really made it a program of excellence, he said.

The amended contract raises Barnes’ base salary from about $400,000 to $580,000, and will also increase incrementally over the next five years. Barnes’ new contract runs through April 2026.
