As more and more people get vaccinated against COVID-19, seniors have been able to get out of their houses safely for the first time in over a year.

The University of Arizona’s Dr. Shad Marvasti suggests that vaccinated seniors not only can, but should get out and travel.

“I encourage folks, and I have encouraged patients who are seniors and in that category, to go and visit their loved ones once they’re fully vaccinated. Take precautions, but get out there and stay connected,” said Marvasti.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s new travel guidelines say fully vaccinated people can resume domestic and international travel.

They do not need to get tested before or self-quarantine after, but the CDC does recommend getting tested when returning to the United States after international travel.

Over 1 million Arizonans over 65 have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services.
