Arizona's State-Run Vaccine Sites Are All Taking Walk-Ins Now
If you need a COVID-19 vaccine you’ll no longer need an appointment at state-run sites. Arizona’s health department says it has plenty of supply for walk-ins.
About half of Arizona’s adult population has now had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. But as more people get vaccinated, demand is slowing down.
Arizona’s Department of Health Services said about 60,000 appointments were unclaimed at its sites as of Monday. So the department's mass vaccination sites, including Gila River Arena, Desert Financial Arena and WestWorld of Scottsdale, will all be accepting walk-ins now. But the department still recommends making an appointment to cut down wait times.
Mass vaccination sites are not the only option for getting a shot. There are also hundreds of pharmacies and clinics offering vaccines statewide.
All Arizona adults are now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine. State-run vaccination sites use the Pfizer vaccine which is approved for anyone 16 or older. Most other vaccinators in the state are offering Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines, which are approved for those over 18.
