Arizona health officials added 603 new cases and six more deaths to its daily coronavirus dashboard April 28.

Hospitalizations continue a gradual recent rise with Intensive Care Unit (ICU) use overall now at 86%.

About 38,000 more vaccinations were given around the state on April 27, bringing the total to more than 4.9 million. Roughly 40% of Arizonans have had at least one dose.

During the pandemic, we have seen more people ending up on the streets. That has only added to the number of people experiencing homelessness who need to be vaccinated here.

Nonprofit Circle the City has partnered with Maricopa County to help get thousands of them protected. The group already works with the homeless population to provide them health care, and now they’ve transitioned those efforts toward vaccination.

The Show spoke with Circle the City community liaison Marty Hames about the efforts.
